Ben Roethlisberger managed to slither back into the news this week with a haircut and beard trim. It turns out, Big Ben’s decision to fix up his look before a workout with his teammates was rather controversial. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf isn’t happy with the decision:
“My concern is just a general concern and anybody who puts himself or herself into harm’s way is something I think we ought to try to avoid,” Wolf said during his daily briefing Tuesday. “And when you go to something like a barbershop and you’re not protected, I don’t care who you are. The chances of that virus wreaking havoc on your life increases.”
For some background, Roethlisberger vowed to not shave or cut his hair until he could throw a football again following his September elbow surgery.
If any player in the NFL is more dramatic and constantly looking for attention, it’s Roethlisberger. Just look at his reactions when a player barely runs into him during a game. In this case, though, I don’t think he was asking for it. Just seems like a regular guy opting for a trim of his beard.
I, personally, understand the want for a haircut these days. (Even by a family member).
